I have long been puzzled by the poor signing of the traffic-free Victoria Bridge route across the river - you need binoculars to see the current signs towards the bridge if you are at the Brougham Hayes traffic lights.
I'm pleased to say that Alison Sherwin and Tina Kilner from Banes have arranged for better signs to be placed at the obvious approaches to Victoria Bridge Road from the south, east and west (ie at the Brougham Hayes junction) and from the north (ie Upper Bristol Road). A sign at the north end of the bridge will point to the connection to NCN4. The existing markings showing cycle turns and use of the Toucan crossings will be repainted.
Many thanks to Alison and Tina!
I remain optimistic that the steps from the bridge down to the riverside path NCN4 route into the city and out towards Locksbrook can be converted into a ramp or ramped steps.
Any one with any comments or other bright ideas about improvements to this useful link?

Planned Solution
Alison Sherwin has had engineering plans drawn up for a potential solution to the problem of access from Victoria Bridge to NCN4 on the river. A proposed ramp curves around the nearby building and desends gradually down to the riverside path level towards the west. To make this safe there would be a barrier on the edge of the new ramp plus a second barrier between the path and the river - where the width of the path would be reduced.
