Follow-up
Malcolm met with Cllr Charles Gerrish (BANES Exec Member for Transport).
Cllr Gerrish was generally non-committal, but did agree that lack of a committed senior officer meant that nothing would happen. He agreed to have Peter Dawson at the next meeting.
CG is keen to progress things that don't cost a lot of money. Malcolm would like to concentrate on the south of the city centre, where there are already projects in
Progress such as the redevelopment Southgate and the railway station. Money had also been allocated to install traffic lights on Churchill Gyratory, but this seemed to be on hold at the moment.
One idea from the conference which Cllr Gerrish is keen on is for BANES and the PCT to offer a package to their employees to encourage them to cycle. This would then act as an example to other major employers.
CG confirmed that he was willing to meet again.
Malcolms feeling was that we need to keep both CG and Peter Dawson on board.
BANES Member Champion for Cycling
The appointment of a cycling champion also seems to be on hold. We still believe this is a good idea and will bring it up at the last meeting. We will reming him that Roger Symmonds is willing to take on the role, but we want to leave CG to appoint his own preferred candidate if he has one.
2. Planning for next meeting
We plan to have a speaker at monthly BCC meetings from October. We will have the speaker first, a break and the business meeting after. People who attend for the talk will have the option of staying or leaving.
Ian Walker, Bath Uni has agreed to speak in October.

3. AOB
Stephen reported back from PACT group. Cycling on pavements is a constant issue.
Frank said that Section 106 money for Western Riverside has been put aside, but he thought it was worth putting forward a proposal for this and pushing for the council to do it. After discussion it seemed appropriate that spending the money on the routes
(a) into town from WR, via Victoria Bridge and the riverside path and
(b) out of town via the 2 Tunnels route
would be a good proposal to put to forward.
There is a Two Tunnels ride this Saturday - Frank to email group
Next meeting
Monday 20 October. 7.30pm. Location to be confirmed.
